The Cat and Mutton

The client’s previous flash-based site had served its purpose for a few years but frustrations in updating the content, and it’s inherent lack of mobile compatibility meant it was time for change. Our challenge was to design something attractive that could still be updated by the client at will. A lack of branded assets also meant we had to create a new identity that derived all its character from typography and a new colour palette with some old graphical devices given a modern twist. We were also able to develop the characters of ‘The Cat’ and ‘The Butcher’ from the artwork of the original pub sign. A Twitter feed was integrated on the homepage so that the client could quickly alert customers to daily promotions. The result is a supremely stylish website that is completely updateable by the client and can be accessed by smartphones and social media apps.
